Holland America is running a program called "Standby List Program", search for it.  You'll find a list of sailings with the ports, Seattle, Vancouver, Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Whittier, San Diego, Montreal and Quebec.   It has a lot of restrictions, is made for people living near the ports.  The pricing is $49 a day, they have the sailings listed, you need to pay up front for the cruise.  You don't get to pick a cabin or cabin type.  There is no turning back once you select and pay, you also will not know if you are going until the final 7 days, down to the final two days.  If they can't clear the standby list you can have a refund.  if you take yourself off the standby list, you don't get a refund.  Only specific sailings, from specific ports listed are eligible cruises.  Search for the program, read everything you can find about it, see what others are saying.  The price is great, if you're someone looking for that last minute cruise this may be for you.  You do have to pay gratuities, taxes and fees, no upgrades, no cabin changes, visit HollandAmerica.com and search out "stand-by program".
